Nintendo has confirmed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch for both the Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 on December 4, ending years of anticipation for the next entry in the long-running sci-fi series.
The game, first announced in 2017 and given the subtitle “Beyond” in 2024, was featured in a new trailer unveiled during the September 12 Nintendo Direct. Pre-orders are now open on the Nintendo store for $60. At the time of writing, the listing still shows the game under the original Switch, with compatibility for Switch 2 noted as “untested.”
“Regardless, we finally have a release date for the game that has been in development since at least 2017,” the announcement stated. The file size is listed at 28.9 GB for both consoles, though Nintendo appears to be in the process of updating the store page.
Alongside the game’s launch date, Nintendo announced related releases. An art book titled Metroid Prime: A Visual Retrospective covering the first three games will be available on October 28. Amiibo figures featuring Samus, Samus & Vi-O-La, and Sylux are also scheduled for release between November 6 and December 4.
The release aligns with Nintendo’s previously outlined 2025 schedule, though the company had not provided a specific date until now.
