Nintendo announced on Thursday that three Resident Evil titles — Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 8: Village and the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem — will launch on its Switch 2 console on February 27, 2026.
The games will be native ports, marking a departure from the cloud-based editions of earlier titles available through the Nintendo Store. The release date coincides with Resident Evil 9’s debut on other platforms.
“Towards the end of the showcase, Nintendo shared that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 8: Village, and Resident Evil Requiem, will be coming to the Switch 2,” the company said during its September 12 Nintendo Direct presentation.
A new trailer highlighted gameplay from Resident Evil Requiem, offering glimpses of both first- and third-person perspectives. The game follows Grace Ashcroft, an investigative reporter tied to the events of the 1998 Raccoon City Incident.
Originally launched in 2017, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard shifted the franchise to a first-person format, with players exploring the Baker family’s derelict home. Its successor, Resident Evil 8: Village, released in 2021, blended first- and third-person modes and followed protagonist Ethan Winters as he searched for his daughter in a gothic village under the control of Mother Miranda.
The Switch 2 version of Resident Evil Requiem marks the series’ ninth mainline installment and continues Capcom’s long-running survival horror franchise, which has sold more than 150 million copies worldwide.
