OnePlus has released the first OxygenOS 16 Open Beta, based on Android 16, for a limited number of its flagship smartphones. The program is currently restricted to India, but the company said wider availability in Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America will follow.
In a community post, OnePlus said the beta is open to users of the OnePlus 13, 13R, 13S, 12, 12R, and the OnePlus Open foldable. “We’re excited to announce the first OxygenOS 16 Open Beta for our 2024 and 2023 flagships,” the company wrote, adding that applications will close on October 13.
Participants must complete a questionnaire and meet certain software requirements before being accepted into the program. OnePlus noted that approval could take up to five days, after which the beta will roll out over the air. The company also provided detailed instructions, including rollback packages for users wishing to revert to the stable OxygenOS version.
As with previous early-access releases, OnePlus cautioned users about potential bugs and instability. It advised testers to back up their data before installing the beta, describing it as an opportunity to “test drive the new OxygenOS 16 experience” ahead of its full release.
OnePlus has yet to confirm the full list of devices eligible for the Android 16 update, but according to its software maintenance policy, future rollouts are expected to include older flagships and mid-range devices such as the OnePlus 11, Nord 5, Nord 4, and Nord CE 5 series, along with the OnePlus Pad 3 and Pad 2.
