Samsung Electronics and Turkish Airlines have introduced a luggage-tracking initiative designed to support passengers in locating lost or delayed baggage via Samsung’s SmartThings Find platform, the companies said on Friday.

The service, called “Smart Tagged Baggage Service,” enables passengers to place a Galaxy SmartTag on their luggage and share its location data when submitting a lost baggage report. SmartThings Find operates using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology and is supported by a global network of more than 700 million Galaxy devices, allowing users to locate registered Galaxy products and tagged items.

Passengers can also upload photos of their luggage through the “Change Device Image” feature in the SmartThings Find app, a function designed to ease visual identification if baggage goes missing. Turkish Airlines expects the service to improve the efficiency of resolving mishandled luggage cases.

Samsung said the airline is the first launch partner in a broader strategy to expand SmartThings Find adoption across the aviation sector. Turkish Airlines plans to extend the integration of location-tracking solutions beyond baggage management and explore more long-term collaboration with Samsung in customer-experience innovation powered by AI and connected devices.

Both companies described the partnership as part of wider efforts to streamline the travel process, enhance peace of mind for passengers and reinforce digital transformation initiatives within the airline industry.
