Sony has expanded the functionality of the PlayStation Portal, enabling users to stream games directly from the cloud without needing a connected PlayStation 5 console. The feature, which had been widely requested by early adopters, is available exclusively to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.
The company detailed the rollout on its official channels, noting that a complete list of compatible titles has been published on a dedicated website. Users can also search for individual games to confirm cloud availability. To access the feature, the game must already exist in the player’s library, maintaining consistency with Sony’s broader streaming policy.

In addition to cloud streaming, the PlayStation Portal now includes a redesigned home screen focused on streaming-related activities. The update also integrates 3D Audio support for cloud-streamed games and enables in-app purchases, enhancing the overall user experience.
The update effectively transforms the PlayStation Portal into a standalone device capable of streaming directly from Sony’s servers. This change eliminates the previous reliance on a physical console for Remote Play, expanding flexibility for users who want access to their PlayStation library on the go.
