Spotify and Netflix announced a partnership to distribute select video podcasts from Spotify Studios and The Ringer on Netflix, marking a new step in the convergence of streaming video and podcast entertainment. The collaboration, launching in early 2026 in the United States before expanding to other markets, aims to widen the reach of popular shows across sports, culture, lifestyle, and true crime genres.
Under the agreement, Netflix will host video versions of titles such as The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Rewatchables, Dissect, and Serial Killers. The initiative is designed to give audiences additional ways to engage with creators and diversify Netflix’s existing catalog of programming. Lauren Smith, Netflix’s vice president of content licensing and programming strategy, said the move reflects how the platform continues to “look for new ways to entertain members, wherever and however they want to watch.”
Spotify described the partnership as a milestone for the podcasting industry. Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify’s vice president and head of podcasts, said the collaboration represents “a new chapter for podcasting,” adding that it will expand discovery and help creators reach new audiences globally. The company said the deal underscores its commitment to developing podcasting into a “multi-format landscape” that blends audio and visual storytelling.
The partnership also aligns with Spotify’s strategy of supporting creators through broader distribution and multiple revenue opportunities. Both companies said the collaboration will help creators maintain control of their content while benefiting from expanded visibility across platforms.
By combining Spotify’s established podcast portfolio with Netflix’s global streaming infrastructure, the partnership signals a growing integration between audio and video entertainment, reflecting the industry’s shift toward multi-platform content consumption.
