Starlink has widened the availability of its Residential Lite satellite Internet plan, bringing the lower-cost option to several eastern U.S. states, including New York, Virginia, Michigan, North Carolina and Florida. The expansion marks the first time many households in these regions can access the company’s more affordable tier.

The Residential Lite plan is priced at $80 per month, making it roughly one-third cheaper than Starlink’s standard $120 Residential service. The plan provides typical download speeds ranging from 80 to 200 Mbps and upload speeds up to 35 Mbps, depending on network usage. While the performance is lower than that of the higher-priced offering, the speed range is positioned as sufficient for average home internet use.

Starlink also offers a separate $40 plan, but that option remains limited to specific low-congestion zones and is capped at 100 Mbps. By contrast, the Lite plan is designed for broader availability in areas where Starlink’s network can support additional users without compromising service quality.

According to the company’s updated coverage map, the number of previously uncovered areas in the eastern U.S. has decreased significantly. Regions with high network congestion remain excluded from eligibility due to capacity constraints.

Users currently subscribed to the standard Residential plan in the newly supported eastern states can now switch to the lower-cost Lite plan if they do not require the higher speeds offered by the premium tier.
