Xiaomi is preparing to roll out HyperOS 3.1 in China, only weeks after beginning the global release of HyperOS 3, according to reports from XiaomiTime. The update is expected to bring interface refinements and improved system performance, but more than 20 of the company’s smartphones and tablets will not receive the new version.
Xiaomi has started recruiting beta testers for HyperOS 3.1 within its domestic market, the report said. Among the most visible changes, the new build will introduce a redesigned recent apps drawer, which is said to take cues from Apple’s design language. The update will also include enhanced memory management intended to deliver smoother animations and faster app launch times.
“Only devices that have received the Android 16 version of HyperOS 3 are in line for HyperOS 3.1,” the report said. Devices currently running HyperOS 3 based on Android 15 will remain on their existing version, suggesting a deliberate split in the update roadmap.
The list of products excluded from the HyperOS 3.1 rollout includes several of Xiaomi’s and Poco’s recent mid-range and flagship models such as the Poco F5 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Turbo, Redmi K60 Pro, and Xiaomi 12 series, along with older flagships like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Mix Fold 2.
Xiaomi’s dual-track release strategy, which separates Chinese and global firmware timelines, remains in place. For example, while the Poco X7 Pro and Poco F7 have received HyperOS 3 globally, their Chinese counterparts continue to run previous builds.
HyperOS 3.1’s debut underscores Xiaomi’s ongoing efforts to refine its in-house operating system, which replaced the long-running MIUI earlier this year. However, the company has not yet provided an official release schedule or confirmed whether the new version will extend beyond China.
