Xiaomi has begun teasing the launch of its next sub-flagship smartphone, confirming that the device will arrive as the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, countering recent speculation about a different naming approach.
The move follows the recent domestic debut of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, after which the company has shifted attention to its Redmi Turbo lineup. Xiaomi had previously released the Redmi Turbo 4 and Turbo 4 Pro, and industry watchers had expected a standard Redmi Turbo 5 to follow. Instead, the company has indicated that the Turbo 5 Max will be the next model, with the possibility of additional variants still open.

While Xiaomi has not announced an exact launch date, it has suggested that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is “coming this month.” The company has also disclosed that the device will be priced below CNY 2,500 (about $357), positioning it firmly in the upper mid-range segment.
In its early messaging, Xiaomi said the phone would combine a “performance breakthrough” with “max battery life” to deliver what it described as a “flagship quality and experience.” Recent market rumours have pointed to a battery capacity of around 9,000 mAh and the use of a Dimensity 9 series chipset, though Xiaomi has not officially confirmed those specifications.
