Xreal has introduced the 1S augmented reality glasses in Japan, positioning the model as an upgraded version of the existing non-S variant. The new device features improvements in display performance, field of view and comfort, while retaining key computing technologies from earlier releases.
The Xreal 1S includes a 52-degree field of view, compared with 50 degrees on the standard model, resulting in a slightly wider visual area for users. The company has also upgraded the Micro OLED panels, which now offer a perceived brightness level of 700 nits, up from 600 nits on the previous model. According to the original product description, the glasses are designed to deliver “a brighter display, a wider FOV and real-time 3D conversion tech.”

The glasses continue to run on the X1 system-on-chip, enabling features such as spatial computing, frame generation and 3-millisecond motion-to-photon latency for smoother interaction in virtual environments. Xreal highlights that the new glasses weigh 82 grams and incorporate flexible temples and an adjustable hinge to improve overall comfort.
Audio has been another focus, with the Xreal 1S featuring a Bose-tuned sound system supporting Spatial Sound 4.0 and a dynamic audio algorithm. The product also incorporates an “ENC uplink noise-cancelling algorithm,” though Xreal notes that the open-ear design will not block outside noise in the way that in-ear ANC earbuds typically do.
