Dambuster Studios has officially teased Dead Island 3, more than two years after the release of its predecessor, but fans may face a long wait before the next installment arrives.
The studio marked the milestone by highlighting that over 20 million players had engaged with Dead Island 2 since its launch in 2023. In a post on X, it shared an image with the phrase: “When there’s no more room in Hell-A,” a reference to the 1978 film Dawn of the Dead. The teaser also featured the character Jacob walking down a road with a suitcase, hinting at a new destination for the series.

While the announcement confirmed that the franchise will continue, no release date has been set. Industry observers caution that delays are possible given the troubled development history of the previous title. Dead Island 2 was originally announced in 2014, planned for release in 2015, but only launched in April 2023 after multiple postponements.
The extended wait frustrated fans, though the eventual release proved commercially successful. With the new game now on the horizon, Dambuster’s early communication suggests an effort to keep audiences engaged during what could again be a lengthy development cycle.
The studio has not provided further details on gameplay, storyline, or launch platforms, leaving players to speculate until more information is released.
