Hazelight Studios, the developer behind It Takes Two and A Way Out, has released its latest cooperative action-adventure game, Split Fiction.

The game, published by Electronic Arts, launched on March 6 and is now available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. However, it is not available on Nintendo Switch.

Split Fiction follows the story of two writers, Mio and Zoe, who are pulled into their own stories—one rooted in science fiction and the other in fantasy—after connecting to a machine that extracts creative ideas.

The game emphasizes teamwork, much like Hazelight’s previous titles, and has been well received by players, with an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam. The game also saw a peak concurrent player count of 197,434 since its release.

The game is priced at $50 across all platforms and is Verified for the Steam Deck, ensuring smooth performance on Valve’s handheld device. It has moderate system requirements, with a minimum of an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X processor and a GTX 970 or RX 470 GPU.

For optimal performance at 1440p and 60 FPS, the recommended specifications include an Intel Core i7-11700K or Ryzen 7 5800X and an RTX 3070 or Radeon 6700 XT.

With Split Fiction maintaining Hazelight’s tradition of story-driven cooperative experiences, it remains to be seen whether it can match the critical and commercial success of It Takes Two, which won Game of the Year in 2021.
