Garmin appears to be preparing a new device for release, identified under development as ‘A04968,’ according to a recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) listing.

While some have speculated that the device could be the Forerunner 975, early evidence suggests it may not be part of the Forerunner smartwatch series.

The FCC certified ‘A04968’ in December 2024, with documentation indicating that Garmin intends to launch the device before the summer. However, details remain limited.

The5krunner has speculated that the device could be the next addition to the Forerunner lineup, following the Forerunner 965 and Forerunner 265, which Garmin introduced in 2023.

Garmin has refreshed several of its smartwatch lines in recent months, including the Approach, Descent, Enduro, Fenix, and Instinct series. However, the latest findings suggest that A04968 lacks support for Garmin Pay, a feature expected in any new Forerunner smartwatch.

Garmin has not provided any official details about the upcoming device, but with previous Forerunner models launching in March, an announcement could be made in the coming months.
