Google Investigates Pixel Watch Wear OS 5.1 Update Issues

Users Report Delayed Notifications and Other Bugs; Fix Expected Before June

Google is addressing issues reported by users of its Pixel Watch lineup following the March 2025 Wear OS 5.1 update, which introduced new features but also caused delayed notifications and other performance problems.

The update, which marked the first software revision since November 2024, brought enhancements such as improved media controls, enhanced pulse detection, and menstrual cycle tracking. However, some users of the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 have experienced notification delays or missing alerts. Additional issues include watch face crashes, unresponsive touchscreens, and Fitbit sync delays, according to user reports.

Some users found that restarting the smartwatch temporarily resolved the problems, though others reported that even a factory reset failed to fix them. “The update has introduced noticeable delays in notifications, which is frustrating,” one affected user shared.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the company is aware of the issue and is working on an over-the-air (OTA) update to address the bugs. “A fix is in development and is expected to be available before June 2025,” the spokesperson said.
