FydeOS has released version 21 of its operating system, Sunlit Epiphany, introducing new features, platform upgrades, and a range of stability improvements. The update shifts the Chromium OS foundation from r132 to r138, bringing with it the latest performance and security patches.
Among the highlights are an enhanced Launcher search function with category-based filters, a Quick Insert panel for adding emojis and rich content, and integrated tools that allow users to copy text directly from screenshots or search captured material online. The release also adds support for isolated web apps in kiosk mode, aimed at strengthening system security for enterprise and public-facing deployments.
Accessibility improvements form another key part of the update. Features such as Mouse Keys for keyboard-driven pointer control, Bounce Keys to avoid repeated input, and Slow Keys to help reduce typing errors have been introduced to make the system easier to use for a broader range of users.
In addition, the update resolves technical issues affecting specific devices. These include fixing screen discoloration on certain Intel Slim variants, addressing Wi-Fi connection problems on the Fydetab Duo with WPA3 networks, and optimizing touchpad responsiveness on the same device.
