A new round of performance testing indicates that the recently released Red Dead Redemption mobile port runs unevenly across Apple hardware, with the newest iPad Pro models delivering the most stable experience. The findings follow continued speculation around a remastered version of the game for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, although those updates remain minor compared with the mobile release.

YouTuber MrMacRight, who has gained attention for benchmarking AAA titles on Apple devices, evaluated the game across multiple generations of iPhones and iPads. His testing found that performance varies sharply depending on chipset and GPU capability. On the M4 iPad Pro, Red Dead Redemption supports two graphics modes: a Fidelity option locked at 30 frames per second and a Performance mode targeting 60 frames per second. “The M4 model is able to sustain a stable 60 FPS in Performance mode, even at the maximum resolution,” the tester said in the video.

According to the analysis, the internal render resolution on the M4 iPad Pro appears lower than the output resolution, but the game maintains smooth playback without noticeable frame pacing issues or micro-stutters. Only the M4 and M5 iPad Pro models currently support 60-FPS gameplay, positioning them as the strongest Apple devices for players seeking the highest performance in the mobile port.

Fidelity mode on the M4 iPad Pro delivers sharper image quality but remains capped at 30 FPS. The YouTuber noted that the GPU frame times indicate enough headroom for a potential 40-FPS option, although such a mode is not included in the present build of the game. Older iPhones and earlier iPads tested significantly below this level, with fluctuating frame rates and reduced visual clarity.

The results underscore the technical demands of the Red Dead Redemption port and highlight how Apple’s latest M-series hardware enables mobile devices to compete more closely with traditional consoles in AAA gaming.
