Huawei has begun a phased global rollout of a new software update for its Watch Ultimate 2 smartwatch, adding expanded eSIM functionality and support for external fitness sensors, according to user reports and the company’s change log.
The update, HarmonyOS 6.0.0.156, applies to the Watch Ultimate 2, which launched in several European markets in October 2025. Weighing about 1.01 GB, the software introduces the ability to make and receive calls using the watch’s eSIM even when power-saving mode is enabled, alongside the option to send and receive SMS messages under the same setting. The change log states that users can now “make or receive calls using the watch’s eSIM when in power-saving mode.”

Huawei also said the update enables Voice over LTE (VoLTE) by default for some eSIM providers, though the feature cannot be toggled manually. In addition, the smartwatch gains support for pairing with a range of external accessories, including heart rate monitors, power meters, speed sensors and cadence sensors, broadening its appeal to fitness-focused users.
The company said the update includes general system stability improvements. Availability is being expanded in stages, and users can install the software through the Huawei Health app or directly on the watch via the system update menu once it appears for their device.
