Garmin has released a preview of a major beta software update for its Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches, introducing nearly three dozen changes as part of a new v16.xx development cycle.
The update, known as Public Beta Version 16.11, follows a recent stable release earlier this month and comes alongside a larger software rollout for Garmin’s Fenix 8 lineup. Garmin said the Forerunner update marks the first in a series of v16.xx releases planned for the two models.

At launch, the update is being offered on a limited pre-rollout basis, meaning it is not yet automatically available to most beta users. Garmin said participants can manually request the software through the device’s update menu while the wider rollout progresses.
According to Garmin, the beta introduces 34 changes compared with Software Version 15.33. Among the additions are a new Battery Manager, expanded sleep guidance, and training plans focused on timed workouts. Garmin also highlighted new health and lifestyle tracking glances, additional alarm sounds, voice alerts and improved activity and navigation features.

Garmin said the update includes “adds a glance that tracks battery life details and performance” as well as “adds insights to the sleep glance for your ideal bedtime and wake time,” alongside multiple bug fixes and performance improvements. Two features, including support for an adventure race profile and voice-command navigation, are exclusive to the Forerunner 570.
