Nintendo is preparing to end production of its Mario Kart World bundle for the Switch 2 console, according to a leaked retailer memo, bringing an early close to a launch package that offered buyers a discounted game with the new hardware.

An internal GameStop communication shared by deal tracker Nintendeal said the bundle “has now reached end of lifecycle, and additional units will no longer be produced. Future replenishment of Nintendo Switch 2 will be the base console.” Nintendo had previously described the bundle as a limited-time offer, with production scheduled to end in the fall of 2025.

The Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle was priced at $499.99, typically saving buyers about $30 compared with purchasing the $80 game separately. The base Switch 2 console without a bundled title sells for $449.99. While the bundle remains available at some retailers, supply is expected to diminish after the holiday season.

Nintendo has not announced a replacement bundle at a similar price, unlike the original Switch, where the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle became a long-running option. Other themed bundles for the Switch 2, including one tied to Pokémon Legends: Z-A, are already sold out at many stores.

The company has not explained why it is ending the Mario Kart World package, but fans and analysts have pointed to pricing pressure and possible component constraints. Concerns remain that rising costs could eventually push the Switch 2’s price higher, raising questions over whether future buyers will see comparable value without an included game.
