A third-party application called PSStream is drawing attention for enabling cloud streaming of a wider range of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games on PCs and the Steam Deck, potentially extending functionality beyond Sony’s official software offerings.
Sony currently provides PS Remote Play, which allows users to stream games from their own console over a network, and PlayStation Plus Premium, which includes cloud streaming for a limited catalog of titles. PSStream, however, claims to allow users to stream not only subscription-based games but also other owned titles, mirroring recent cloud-focused features added to Sony’s PlayStation Portal handheld.

Listed on Valve’s marketplace for $4.99, PSStream advertises “high-quality, low-latency PS console and cloud streaming on PC, Steam Deck, and Linux,” with support for up to 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second and HDR. According to material shared by its developer, the app includes separate modes for Remote Play and Cloud Play, as well as a library view showing compatible games already purchased by users.
Early user reviews have been largely positive, with some players saying the software replicates the expanded cloud capabilities recently introduced on the PlayStation Portal. Sony has not commented publicly on the app, but the way PSStream accesses PlayStation Network accounts has raised questions about security and whether the company will seek its removal.

While Sony has previously allowed other third-party tools, such as Chiaki, to operate without intervention, those apps rely on the same APIs as PS Remote Play and do not offer additional cloud streaming features. PSStream’s broader functionality could prompt closer scrutiny, particularly as Sony continues to develop its own approach to cloud gaming on non-PlayStation devices.
