Huawei said it is developing a new running-focused smartwatch, its first in the category since the Watch GT Runner was released in 2021, as the company looks to strengthen its presence in sports wearables.
The Chinese technology group described the upcoming device as a “cutting-edge professional running watch” and said it has been developed in collaboration with elite athletes to refine its features and performance algorithms.

Huawei said it worked with the dsm-firmenich Running Team, which includes marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge and distance runner Joshua Cheptegei. According to the company, insights from professional athletes were used to shape the watch’s design and software. Huawei said the aim was to “deliver meaningful insights that benefit not only elite athletes, but runners of all levels around the world.”
While the product name has not yet been disclosed, Huawei indicated that the watch will include its TruSense system, capable of tracking more than 60 health and fitness metrics, alongside GPS route tracking powered by its Sunflower positioning technology. The company said internal testing with more than 100 runners showed race performance prediction accuracy of over 97%.

Huawei also suggested the smartwatch could feature an energy-level monitoring tool designed to assess fatigue and help users adjust training intensity. The company has not announced a release date or pricing, but its existing Watch GT 6 and GT 6 Pro models currently retail in Europe for mid-range smartwatch prices, providing a potential reference point for the upcoming device.
