Garmin has expanded its navigation portfolio with the launch of the Garmin Zumo XT3, a rugged GPS device designed primarily for motorcycle riders. The company, widely recognized for its smartwatch range, continues to build on its origins in navigation systems with the new release.

The Zumo XT3 is built to withstand demanding riding conditions and carries IPX7 water resistance and MIL-STD-810 durability certifications. Garmin says the device is engineered to handle vibrations commonly encountered on motorcycles, while remaining usable in other vehicles if required.

Among its rider-focused features is a lean angle display that shows how far a motorcycle is tilted during cornering. The device also supports group ride functions, allowing users to track the positions of fellow riders. This feature requires either an indirect cellular connection or compatible accessories to enable tracking without mobile coverage.

For motorsport enthusiasts, Garmin offers an optional Performance Package that unlocks additional data tools. When activated, the system can display acceleration metrics — including time to 100 kph — as well as lap times and distance-based performance statistics. The company describes the Zumo XT3 as a navigation system that “includes some advanced features for the racetrack and other scenarios.”

Users can plan routes directly on the device or through a companion smartphone app, which also enables discovery of new and scenic routes. The Zumo XT3 is available in two variants: a $499 model with a 4.7-inch TFT touchscreen and a $599 version featuring a 6-inch display. Both screens are designed for visibility in bright daylight, and orders are scheduled to open on February 20.
