Google has expanded satellite connectivity support for the Pixel Watch 4 as part of its March 2026 Feature Drop, while also introducing new capabilities for older Pixel smartwatch models.
The update forms part of Google’s broader March 2026 Feature Drop, which introduces new functions across the company’s device ecosystem, including smartphones and the Pixel Tablet.
Under the latest update, satellite connectivity on the Pixel Watch 4 will expand beyond the United States to additional markets in Europe. The feature allows users to connect via satellite in areas with limited or no cellular coverage, providing additional communication options during emergencies or when off-grid.
Google also confirmed that the Pixel Watch 3 will receive gesture-based controls with the March update. The feature was previously exclusive to the Pixel Watch 4.
The gesture system allows users to interact with their smartwatch by tapping their thumb and index finger together while wearing the device. According to Google, the gestures can be used to answer calls, scroll through notifications or trigger a smartphone camera remotely when paired with a compatible device.
In addition, the update expands contactless payment functionality across Pixel smartwatch models beginning with the Pixel Watch 2. Users can now make payments or access transit systems by tapping their watch without needing to open Google Wallet in advance.
The March Feature Drop also introduces improvements to other devices in the Pixel lineup. On the Pixel Tablet, the update enables desktop-style windowing for apps, allowing users to resize and organize multiple windows on screen.
Google regularly releases Feature Drop updates to introduce new capabilities and software improvements across its Pixel ecosystem, extending features to both new and existing devices.
