Pearl Abyss has confirmed its long-awaited action role-playing game Crimson Desert will release on March 19, 2026, ending years of uncertainty around the project. The announcement was made during Sony’s PlayStation State of Play showcase.
First revealed in 2019, the open-world RPG follows Kliff, a mercenary leader navigating the conflict-ridden continent of Pywel. The title has faced repeated setbacks, with developers citing extended work on voice acting, certification and distribution logistics.
A new trailer accompanied the release date confirmation, featuring cinematic combat sequences and political intrigue. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Preorders are now live, with all players receiving the in-game Khaled Shield as a bonus. PlayStation 5 buyers will also gain access to the Grotevant Plate Set as an exclusive incentive. Deluxe and Collector’s editions will add further cosmetic gear, including armor sets and mount equipment.
Until now, the game’s timeline had remained uncertain after being delayed into 2026. Pearl Abyss said the release marks a turning point in the development cycle. “This trailer marks the first solid release date in recent memory, with the firm March 19th, 2026 date only leaving fans a measly 5 months wait time before they can finally get their hands on the title,” the studio said.
The confirmation provides a measure of clarity for fans who have followed the title through years of shifting schedules. Whether Pearl Abyss meets the March target will be closely watched after its history of delays.
