Google has released its Nest Doorbell 3rd Gen Wired, a new version of its smart doorbell that introduces camera upgrades and AI-powered functions, but availability is restricted to the United States and Canada.
The device features a square-format 2,048 x 2,048 pixel sensor with a 166-degree field of view and support for Gemini Live. It adds improvements such as digital zoom of up to six times, a dedicated night vision mode with HDR, and an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, compared with the lower protection level of its battery-powered predecessor.
Video performance remains capped at 30 frames per second, and storage is limited to three hours of recorded activity unless users subscribe to Google’s Home Premium service. Connectivity includes WiFi 5 compatibility with multiple encryption protocols, alongside 128-bit AES encryption for data security.
The Nest Doorbell 3rd Gen Wired is priced at $179.99 in the United States and CA$239.99 in Canada, with color choices of Hazel, Linen and Snow. Despite listing the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia in promotional material, Google has not extended sales to those markets.
The release marks the latest addition to Google’s connected home product line, offering enhanced security and integration but with availability that remains narrow for the time being.
