NCSoft has unveiled Horizon Steel Frontiers, a new massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. The company described the title as a distinct experience within the franchise, noting in its announcement that the game “will be different from other titles.” No release window has been provided.
The MMORPG introduces character creation and shared exploration across the Deadlands, where players will join others in completing missions, engaging in raids and confronting large mechanical creatures. NCSoft said the game will feature a range of strategies for combat encounters and confirmed that a player-versus-player mode will be included.
Early footage indicates that gameplay draws inspiration from earlier Horizon titles, retaining familiar movement and combat elements. The publisher said the new title incorporates “more weapons and more dynamic combat,” according to material accompanying the trailer. Two videos have been released on the official YouTube channel to show initial gameplay and design direction.
In a notable shift for the franchise, the game will not debut on PlayStation platforms. Instead, NCSoft plans to launch Horizon Steel Frontiers first on PC, iOS and Android. The company has not clarified whether the game will follow a free-to-play model.
With development ongoing and details still limited, NCSoft has indicated that players will need patience as the studio continues work on the title. The release date remains unspecified, and further updates are expected as testing and production progress.
