Garmin has begun rolling out software version 12.21 for its Instinct 3 smartwatch lineup, delivering a series of fixes and enhancements while remaining in beta status. The update covers the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct E, Instinct 3 Tactical Solar and AMOLED models, as well as the Instinct Crossover AMOLED. According to the original article, the release “fixes a number of bugs and, compared to the last stable version, introduces new features.”
The latest beta replaces version 12.19 and resolves translation errors that had led to incorrectly displayed activity names. It also improves the performance of Garmin’s dog-tracking functionality, a tool used not only by pet owners but also by hunters and outdoor professionals who rely on compatible Garmin tracking devices.

Beyond the immediate fixes, version 12.21 includes broader updates when compared with the most recent stable releases, identified as versions 10.36 and 11.11. Users participating in the beta programme now gain access to additional health-status insights and expanded visibility into changes in key vital metrics.
Depending on the specific Instinct 3 variant, the update also introduces new data fields and interface refinements intended to make system navigation more consistent across models. Garmin notes that performance may improve as well, with the beta addressing an earlier issue linked to increased power consumption.

As with all pre-release software, Garmin advises that users may still encounter unexpected behaviour. The company has not provided a timeline for when version 12.21 will transition from beta to a stable rollout.
