Garmin has begun distributing a new stable software update for its Instinct 3, Instinct E and Instinct Crossover smartwatches, adding two bug fixes to the wearable lineup. System software 12.23 follows version 12.21, which recently introduced a Health Status feature and new data fields for steps and Pulse Ox tracking.
The update is described as incremental, focusing largely on resolving issues reported by users. Garmin said the release corrects a problem affecting all supported models in which “apps could not be added as expected in Garmin Connect Manager,” according to the company’s notes.

A second fix applies specifically to the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E models, addressing an error that prevented Connect IQ apps from properly downloading content such as workout files or course data. Garmin did not indicate whether any additional performance or stability improvements were bundled into the release.
Posts on the company’s online forum indicate that software 12.23 has reached at least half of eligible devices, though the full rollout timeline remains uncertain. Garmin typically deploys firmware updates in phases to monitor stability before expanding distribution.

The company said the new software will install automatically once the smartwatch is connected to the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express on a paired device. Users who have not yet received the update are expected to see it delivered as the rollout continues.
