Garmin has relaunched its high-end Tactix 8 smartwatch with a new Cerakote Edition, adding a ceramic-based coating designed to improve durability while keeping core features unchanged. The updated model is already available to order in two colour options, marking another product refresh for the company early in 2026.

The Tactix 8 originally debuted less than a year ago, featuring tools such as ECG monitoring, an LED flashlight, tactical modes and a 1.4-inch AMOLED display. Those specifications remain intact in the new version, along with battery life of up to 29 days in smartwatch mode, according to the company.

What differentiates the new edition is the addition of Cerakote, a ceramic-polymer composite coating commonly used for its resistance to wear and corrosion. Garmin describes the material as offering “abrasion, corrosion and chemical resistance properties,” adding that the coating is sprayed onto each watch and baked to cure, creating “a unique look and feel that becomes more refined as the watch is worn.”

Garmin says the finish is intended to develop a patina over time, giving the watch a more rugged appearance with use. The Cerakote Edition is offered only in the larger 51 mm case size, unlike the standard Tactix 8, which is also sold in a smaller 47 mm option.

The Tactix 8 Cerakote Edition is priced at $1,599.99, representing a $200 premium over other 51 mm Tactix 8 models. It is available in Olive Drab and Slate Grey finishes, with Garmin directing customers to its website for further details.
