Poco is a sub-brand under the company Xiaomi that sells high-performance but affordable phones. In 2022, it looks like Poco is planning to make a splash in the industry again, but not phones. This is their first smartwatch.
Reporting from Gizmochina (21/2), this news came from Piyush Bhasarkar on Twitter. The post shares a screenshot of the list of Poco-branded smartwatches from the Russian Electronic Certification platform, EEC.
The listing reveals some details about the smartwatch. First, this smartwatch will bear the model number Poco M2131W1. Next are the manufacturers of smartwatches. Apparently this production process will be carried out by 70mai Co. Ltd. in Shanghai, China. 70mai itself is one of the brands that Xiaomi is currently integrating into the Xiaomi IoT ecosystem.

As for further specs about the Poco Smartwatch, there is no mention of the specs in the EEC listing and at this point, this is the first leak of Poco’s first-ever entry into the smartwatch market.
In November 2021, one of Poco’s executives revealed that the brand is evolving into an ecosystem product by 2022. “We always thought mobile plus IoT was a key strategy for us,” said Poco Global head Kevin Qiu.
This shows that earphones, wearables (smartbands and smartwatches) and power banks can be the first products to build Poco’s IoT ecosystem. After all, the ecosystem for Poco enables a more seamless experience while also building brand loyalty among Poco’s current customer base.
