Waze has introduced a range of artificial intelligence-powered features, including Gemini-based destination search, personalized navigation and conversational road reporting, as Google continues integrating its AI technologies across its products.
The updates include personalized route recommendations that take into account a user’s driving habits and traffic patterns. Users can also disable the feature or choose alternative routes if preferred.
Gemini Expands Waze Navigation Features
The app now allows users to search for destinations using Google’s Gemini AI assistant through natural language queries, such as finding nearby coffee shops, parking or fuel stations.
Waze is also expanding conversational reporting by enabling users to submit map updates, including road closures and incorrect addresses, using voice commands.
In addition, a new Motorcycle mode uses AI to provide routes tailored for two-wheelers, taking into account road restrictions, shortcuts and hazards such as potholes and speed bumps. The feature is initially available in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines.
The update also introduces a “less chatty” mode that reduces voice prompts while continuing to provide essential navigation and hazard alerts.
Google said the new features are rolling out on Android and iOS, with some capabilities initially available to Waze beta users.
