Corsair MP700 SSD : What we know so far

Corsair MP700 SSD Corsair MP700 SSD

Corsair appears to have started developing their first PCIe 5.0 based SSD, the MP700. They show the SSD has incredible speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s for reads and 9,500 MB/s for writes. The MP700 SSD is also claimed to be ready to welcome the AM5 motherboard from AMD.

Although not revealing full specifications, the new generation SSD will have an M.2 connector and a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface with NVMe 2.0. From the data exhibited by Corsair, the MP700 is far ahead of their current fastest SSD, the MP600 PRO XT. It’s a 40% improvement in both sequential read and write from the MP600 PRO XT, which is a PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

PCIe 5 itself was actually introduced by Intel last year along with the launch of Alder Lake. However, SSDs with this technology are not yet available to consumers. However, this Corsair MP700 is likely to be enjoyed by a limited number of “enthusiasts” by the end of this year.

As is known, AMD has scheduled an announcement for Ryzen 7000 and socket AM5, which supports PCIe 5, on August 29. In fact, Corsair explicitly mentions AM5 support for the MP700 on their website. This indicates that the MP700 will be released in the near future with the official launch of the AM5 in September. Interesting to wait!
