The official YouTube TV account on Twitter has just announced a new feature on the platform, namely the clock. For nearly six years, the platform with 5 million active subscribers as of July, lacked a timer which is its most basic feature.
As per the announcement, YouTube TV viewers will now be able to see the time in the upper left corner of the home screen every time they open the app. The clock can also be seen when opening any video content on the platform.
YouTube says the feature is currently only rolling out for television sets. Thus, the clock will not be visible on the mobile app or browser.
The time display on YouTube TV may not be a huge feature, as the time can be seen at a glance on the viewer’s cell phone, watch, or wall clock. However, it may come in handy in certain circumstances.
For example, when we use YouTube TV to watch live sports. In order not to miss the game we are waiting for while watching other matches, we can check the time directly in the upper left corner of the screen without having to look at the secondary device and miss a second of the match in progress.

YouTube TV doesn’t get new features as often as some other services. But earlier this year, the company finally brought picture-in-picture support to iPhone and iPad devices. Apart from that, YouTube TV also features a new UI design that can now display Shorts videos vertically.
