Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed that a new mainline Fallout game is in early development, alongside several other unannounced projects set in the franchise, even as most of the studio’s development resources remain focused on The Elder Scrolls VI.
The comments come amid renewed attention on the Fallout brand following the success of the Fallout television series, which has driven increased interest in earlier titles such as Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas and the ongoing multiplayer game Fallout 76. Bethesda has said Fallout continues to be its most actively supported franchise overall, despite the absence of a new single-player release for more than a decade.

Bethesda leadership has acknowledged that the majority of its internal teams are currently committed to The Elder Scrolls VI, with other Fallout-related projects progressing at a slower pace. The studio has reiterated that large-scale role-playing games require extended development cycles, and that sequels are developed only when resources allow.
In the meantime, Bethesda continues to invest in Fallout 76, which has received steady updates and new content, including elements tied to the television series. The company has pointed to this ongoing support as evidence that development within the Fallout universe has not paused, even without a new flagship release.
