Blackview has launched a new version of its Xplore 1 smartphone that can communicate without relying on a cellular network, positioning the device for use in outdoor, industrial and emergency scenarios. The handset integrates a two-way radio system, visible through an external antenna, allowing users to make direct radio calls alongside standard smartphone functions.
According to the manufacturer, the built-in radio supports both UHF and VHF bands and can handle private and encrypted communications. Promotional material cited by technology media says the device offers a range of up to 12.4 miles in open areas and about 2.8 miles in urban environments, though such distances may vary in real-world conditions. Users are advised to check local regulations governing the use of handheld radios before operating the device.
