In order to build a chip factory that is billed as the largest in the world, the US technology company, Intel has prepared a fund of 20 billion US dollars.
Reported by Reuters on Saturday (22/1/2022), the factory will be established in Ohio in the form of a complex building and is promised to be able to answer global chip needs which are currently experiencing shortages.
It is one of the strategies of Intel CEO, Pat Gelsinger to return to dominate the chip market and compete more fiercely with chipmakers in Asia.
“This will be the largest semiconductor manufacturer on the planet,” said Pat describing the plan.
The development plan will also be the largest investment in Ohio. Later, there will be 3000 jobs created at the location and able to generate revenue of 100 billion US dollars annually with eight chip factories in one complex.
However, he did not promise this plan can be realized in the near future.
The US government has also prepared a subsidy scheme to boost chip production in Uncle Sam’s country.
In fact, US President Joe Biden prepared a subsidy plan of 52 billion US dollars which is being submitted for approval by congress.
Regarding the semiconductor crisis, Pat Gelsinger said this condition will continue until 2023.
Pat said that with the construction of the factory, the global semiconductor crisis would be overcome due to increasingly competitive market competition.
