Capcom has indicated it may bring back several of its well-known franchises, including Mega Man, Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney, as part of a broader strategy to grow its portfolio and reach new audiences. The update was outlined in the publisher’s 2025 Integrated Report, which has renewed speculation about Mega Man 12 after years of uncertainty.

Fans have been waiting for a new instalment in the Mega Man series since 2018, with compilations failing to satisfy long-time followers of the action-platformer franchise. The original article noted that “collections of older games haven’t appeased fans waiting for a new Mega Man title.” Capcom previously played down expectations for a sequel, but the latest report suggests a shift in approach.

COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto said the company will continue to treat Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter as key components of its business, while also finding opportunities to reintroduce Mega Man, Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney. He said upcoming plans include “new releases, remakes, and ports,” adding that Capcom aims to turn these properties into “core IPs” by supporting them on new hardware to help increase operating profits.

The report does not identify which games will be released next. With Mega Man 11 now seven years old, fans continue to request a traditional sequel, though remakes of early entries dating back to the NES era remain a possibility. Devil May Cry supporters have also been awaiting news about a sixth title, with the last mainline game launched in 2018.

Ace Attorney, which has sold more than 13 million units worldwide, is also seen as a strong candidate for a future instalment. The most recent main entry, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, was released in 2016, leaving a gap that Capcom could seek to address as it expands its yearly lineup.
