Dacia has confirmed that the next generation of its all-electric Spring will be manufactured in Europe, marking a shift in production for the compact electric city car as the automaker continues to target the affordable electric vehicle segment.

The second-generation Spring will retain its fully electric drivetrain, four-seat configuration and practical cargo space, while remaining focused on urban mobility.

    Production Shifts to Europe

Since its European debut in 2021, the Dacia Spring has recorded approximately 210,000 sales across the region, including around 50,000 units in Germany.

The current model is produced in China, but Dacia said production of the next-generation Spring will move to Europe. The company has not disclosed the manufacturing location or confirmed when the new model will enter production.

    Continuing an Affordable EV Strategy

Dacia said the upcoming Spring will continue its strategy of offering a simple and accessible battery-electric vehicle for everyday city driving.

Technical specifications for the new generation, including battery capacity, driving range, charging capability and powertrain details, have not yet been announced.

Recent Updates to the Current Model

The existing Spring received a technical update in late 2025, replacing its previous 33 kW and 48 kW electric motors with new 52 kW and 75 kW powertrains.

The update also introduced a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, making the Spring the first Renault Group model to adopt the battery chemistry. A comprehensive exterior redesign had previously been introduced in 2024.

    Current Model Range

Dacia recently suspended sales of the entry-level Essential trim, citing strong customer demand.

The model range now begins with the Expression variant, priced from €18,700 before incentives. The manufacturer currently offers discounts of up to €3,000, which can be combined with applicable government incentives in eligible markets.

Dacia said further details on the second-generation Spring, including pricing, technical specifications, production location and launch timing, will be announced at a later date.
