Dell Introduces U2724D and U2724DE Monitors with Cutting-Edge Features

Dell has expanded its UltraSharp monitor series with the introduction of the U2724D and U2724DE, both 27-inch monitors offering a 1440p (2,560 x 1,440) resolution. These monitors, while similar in size and resolution, are set apart by differences in connectivity and pricing. Dell is touting two distinct features that it claims are industry firsts, setting these displays apart from the competition.

Firstly, the U2724D and U2724DE are the only monitors on the market to integrate a 120 Hz refresh rate along with IPS Black technology. This combination results in impressive specifications, including a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, peak brightness of 350 nits, and 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Dell also emphasizes that both monitors will undergo factory calibration for sRGB, BT.709, DCI-P3, and Display P3 color spaces, ensuring color accuracy with Delta E deviations of less than 2.

Secondly, the U2724D and U2724DE models are the first monitors to be certified under the new TÜV Rheinland’s five-star eye comfort certification. While specific details about this certification are not extensively provided by Dell, TÜV Rheinland elaborates on the assessment process, which examines various technical aspects related to eye comfort, including image quality, ambient light management, and eye care technology.

To achieve a five-star rating, a monitor must excel in all 15 categories, which encompass features like high refresh rate, good color accuracy, and measures to reduce visual fatigue, such as minimizing blue light and flicker. Additionally, ambient light sensors enable automatic brightness and color adjustments, further enhancing user comfort.

Both monitors come equipped with a single HDMI and DisplayPort 1.4 port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, three USB Type-A ports, and a USB Type-C port that offers 15 W USB Power Delivery. The U2724DE model adds a Thunderbolt 3 port and an RJ45 port, along with KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) functionality. While Dell provides adjustable stands for both monitors, detailed specifications of the stands are not disclosed.

Dell has announced that both the U2724D and U2724DE monitors will be available from November 9, with price tags of $479.99 and $649.99, respectively, reflecting their unique features and capabilities.
