New concept art linked to Microsoft’s long-awaited Fable reboot has surfaced online, offering fans an early look at locations that may feature in the game ahead of an expected update at Microsoft’s January 22 Xbox Developer Direct. The role-playing game, first announced in 2020 and being developed by Playground Games, is still officially slated for a 2026 release.

The images, obtained by gaming outlet MP1st from a former developer no longer working on the project, depict a range of environments spanning new areas and familiar towns from earlier Fable entries. While it is unclear whether all the locations shown will appear in the final game, several settings appear visually consistent with environments teased in official trailers.

The artwork suggests a larger version of Albion than seen in previous titles, pointing toward a broader open-world structure. More than 20 leaked images indicate an expanded scope, with developers potentially revisiting locations from across the franchise. Among them is Bloodstone, a coastal settlement first introduced in Fable 2, shown in one image as a detailed market district with roads leading to an arena and nearby islands.

Other images hint at a shared origin for player characters, even if hero customisation remains an option. Several files labelled “Hamlet” depict what appears to be a rural homestead, shown in different stages of prosperity and destruction. One scene portrays the area bustling with life before a flood seemingly devastates the settlement.

Some elements from the artwork echo creatures already revealed by Microsoft. A large werewolf-like enemy featured in an earlier trailer resembles a Balverine shown prominently in the leaked images. Fans are now looking to the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct for confirmation of which concepts will make it into the final game, and whether Microsoft will narrow the release window beyond its current 2026 target amid ongoing speculation of a simultaneous PlayStation 5 launch.
