Microsoft has confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will take place in Japan, following years of speculation and fan demand. The company revealed the news during Tokyo Game Show, where a teaser trailer was shown. The title is expected to launch in 2026, though no specific release date has been announced.

According to Playground Games, the choice of Japan reflects its strong cultural identity and global influence across cars, music and fashion. Developers said the series has now reached a point where its technical capabilities can support an authentic recreation of the country’s varied landscapes and driving environments.

The new installment will also see the return of seasonal changes, which played a key role in Forza Horizon 5. In Japan, the feature will have a greater impact on gameplay, as shifts in weather and environment will influence both the look and feel of the game. Developers indicated that seasons in Japan also carry deeper cultural meaning, which they plan to incorporate into the design through changes in tone, audio and in-game activities.

Elevated road systems inspired by earlier work on the Hot Wheels expansion in Forza Horizon 5 will also be featured in the new title.

Additional details are expected to be shared in early 2026, with Microsoft’s showcase on January 27 anticipated to highlight further information.
