Garmin may be preparing to broaden the way users review health data in its Garmin Connect app, following the discovery of unused code in version 5.20 that points to expanded Health Status functionality.

Garmin Connect’s Health Status feature provides an overview of key metrics collected by compatible wearables, including resting heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation and skin temperature. These measurements are compared against a user’s baseline to help highlight unusual changes, potentially supporting early awareness of developing health issues.

Currently, Health Status data is limited to a single day, which restricts longer-term analysis. However, recently identified parameters in the app’s latest version suggest this limitation could be addressed. The uncovered code includes references to functions that accept both start and end dates, indicating potential support for extended summaries, historical overviews or trend-based analysis.

Additional parameters related to data formatting point to new presentation options for Health Status information. These could allow multiple health metrics to be displayed together in a more consolidated visual format, such as charts or diagrams, making it easier for users to interpret changes over time.

Garmin has not announced any changes to the Health Status feature, and code discovered in applications does not always result in publicly released updates. Still, the findings indicate that Garmin may be exploring ways to enhance insight into the growing volume of health data generated by its wearable devices.
