Garmin is developing a new smartwatch feature designed to simplify how users interpret health data by offering a clear, categorized overview of multiple biometric parameters. The feature, called Health Status, will help users understand whether their readings fall within normal ranges or show deviations that may indicate potential health issues.
According to Garmin, the feature establishes a baseline over a three-to-four-week period for several key metrics, including heart rate, heart rate variability, respiration rate, oxygen saturation, and skin temperature frequency. The company said the extended measurement period is intended to “lessen the significance of short-term and abnormal readings,” ensuring that the analysis reflects typical patterns rather than temporary fluctuations.

Once active, Health Status will display these values and classify them directly on the smartwatch interface, allowing users to quickly assess whether their results are consistent with their baseline data. Garmin noted that while the system might help highlight potential signs of illness, it is not a medically certified diagnostic tool.
The company stated that the feature could also benefit athletes by improving training control through better tracking of physiological changes. However, it will not be available when the heart rate sensor is disabled or when the device is in power-saving mode.
