Garmin Ltd’s chief executive signaled that the company is preparing to introduce a new high-end smartwatch generation, prompting speculation that its first Fenix 9 models could debut around mid-2026. The comments came during the company’s 2025 financial year results announcement, where leadership outlined expectations for improved performance next year.

Chief Executive Clifton Pemble said Garmin anticipates higher sales in the second half of 2026, despite already launching several smartwatch models this year, including the Quatix 8 Pro. While he declined to address rumors surrounding a Fenix 9 directly, Pemble described the company’s outdoor segment as set for a “very active year.”

Garmin’s product cadence in its premium outdoor lineup has typically followed a cycle of roughly 14 to 15 months. The Fenix 8 debuted in August 2024, followed just over a year later by the Fenix 8 Pro. Before that, similar intervals separated earlier Fenix generations, reinforcing expectations that a successor could be nearing release.

Morgan Stanley analyst Eric Woodring highlighted management’s sales outlook in a follow-up note, emphasizing investor attention on the timing of the next flagship device. However, Garmin has not confirmed any specifications, features, or launch dates related to a Fenix 9.

Industry observers have also pointed to recent Garmin patents referencing advanced digital crown technology, though it remains unclear whether such features will appear in the upcoming generation. For now, the company has provided no further details about its next premium smartwatch.
