Garmin has released software version 5.10 for its Approach S62 smartwatch, introducing two key bug fixes aimed at improving GPS performance and golf course data accuracy. The update marks the first major software release for the model in over a year, following version 5.00, which added PulseOx Spot Check support and GPS enhancements.

According to Garmin, the latest firmware addresses “a problem with the golf course list, where some course layouts were accidentally omitted,” ensuring all relevant courses and configurations now appear correctly in the system. The company also resolved an issue related to GPS Extended Prediction Orbit (EPO) files, which are designed to speed up satellite acquisition.

“Software version 5.10 fixes an error that caused incorrect GPS status information to be displayed,” Garmin said in a post on its official forum. EPO files typically help reduce GPS lock times to under 30 seconds, a key performance feature for golf-oriented wearables.

The update is being rolled out as a stable release for all Approach S62 users and can be installed via the Garmin Connect or Garmin Golf mobile apps, or through Garmin Express on desktop. The smartwatch is currently listed at around $469.90 on Amazon.

Garmin’s latest release reinforces its ongoing support for dedicated golf wearables by addressing reliability issues and optimizing GPS accuracy. The company continues to refine its software ecosystem for more consistent course data and smoother on-course performance.
