Garmin Prepares Launch of Forerunner 165 Smartwatch, Leaked Ahead of European Release

Garmin, a leading provider of wearable technology, is gearing up to unveil its latest offering in the smartwatch category with the introduction of the Forerunner 165. The upcoming model, intended to succeed the Forerunner 55, has surfaced in leaks ahead of its anticipated European release.

According to reports, the Forerunner 165 will be offered in Black, White, and Turquoise color options, boasting a refreshed design and enhanced features. Notable updates include a larger display and a more streamlined design with slimmer bezels, aimed at delivering improved aesthetics and user experience. Garmin has reportedly prioritized accessibility with a redesigned “Run” button, emphasizing user-friendly design elements.

Pricing for the Forerunner 165 is set at €279 for the standard version, with a Music variant available at €329, offering integrated storage for media content. Key specifications of the smartwatch include a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390×390 pixels, as well as a barometric altimeter for precise elevation tracking and Garmin’s “Elevate V4” PPG sensor for accurate heart rate monitoring. However, it is anticipated that the Forerunner 165 may offer a shorter battery life of 11 days compared to its predecessor.

The Forerunner 165 supports 20 mm quick-release bands, catering to various wrist sizes and providing versatility for users. Despite its entry-level positioning, the Music version of the Forerunner 165 comes equipped with 4GB of onboard storage, offering added convenience for music enthusiasts.

In addition to the Forerunner 165 smartwatch, Garmin has unveiled the HRM-Fit Heart Rate Monitor for Sports Bras at the CES 2024. This innovative heart rate monitor attaches to the bottom band of sports bras and is compatible with leading brands such as Adidas and Under Armour, providing athletes with a discreet and convenient solution for heart rate monitoring during workouts.
