Garmin has rolled out version 5.19 of its Garmin Connect app for Android, bringing back independent Do Not Disturb (DND) settings for its smartwatches after customer feedback on recent changes.

The update reverses a modification introduced in version 5.18, which had synchronized the smartwatch’s DND mode with that of the connected smartphone. The adjustment had caused all watch notifications to be muted whenever the phone entered DND mode, a move that drew criticism from users who preferred separate control over notifications.

With version 5.19, Garmin has returned to its previous configuration, allowing users to manage DND settings on their smartwatches independently from their phones. The decision follows a wave of customer feedback on the company’s forums, where users requested a return to the original functionality.

Some users have reported that additional steps, such as restarting their device or clearing the app cache, may be required for the changes to take effect after installation.

While some in the community have suggested that Garmin include a toggle allowing users to choose between linked or separate DND behavior, the company has not indicated plans to implement such an option.

The updated Garmin Connect app (v5.19) is being distributed globally and can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
