Garmin has released a new beta software update for older smartwatches including the Fenix 7 series, signaling a move beyond its long-running v23.xx development cycle, the company said in a forum post.

The beta, labeled Version 25.03, follows closely after the rollout of stable Software Version 23.48, which arrived earlier this month with about a dozen bug fixes and marked the end of v23.xx beta testing that began in July. The new build is now available through Garmin’s public Beta Program.

In its forum update, Garmin said Beta Version 25.03 “introduces sixteen changes from Software Version 23.48,” combining feature adjustments with a broad set of fixes. Among the updates, users can now enable or disable the auto-lap feature in supported activities, while the progress bar in the audiobooks list has been visually refined.

Most of the changes focus on stability. The company listed 14 bug fixes addressing issues ranging from incorrect data displays to unexpected device shutdowns. Several of the fixes target scenarios in which Fenix 7 models could reboot or power off during activities such as golf, daily suggested workouts, or while navigating widgets.

Garmin indicated that Version 25.03 is likely the first of several v25.xx beta releases expected to be tested over the coming months. As a result, a corresponding stable release is not expected until early 2026, based on the company’s typical development cycle.
