Garmin has released a new stable firmware update for its Fenix 8 Pro smartwatch, delivering performance enhancements and several bug fixes as part of System Software 18.68. The rollout, which began globally this week, marks the third major update for the model since its debut in early September.
According to Garmin, the update includes five bug fixes and three key improvements, targeting system stability and LTE performance. The company said, “System Software 18.68 refines auto brightness behavior, enhances Messenger notifications, and improves inReach plan management.” The update also addresses several connectivity issues that users had reported since launch.
Among the resolved issues are problems with Auto LTE mode, which previously disabled automatically after an activity ended, and Livetrack via LTE, which occasionally stopped mid-session. Garmin also fixed a bug that caused GPS tracking to pause after sending satellite messages and a potential crash when saving activities.
The Fenix 8 Pro, which currently retails for $1,199.99 on Amazon, continues to receive post-launch support despite not yet being added to Garmin’s public Beta Program. In contrast, the newer Venu 4 series entered its first beta testing phase earlier this month.
The latest update underscores Garmin’s focus on refining features tied to its microLED display and LTE connectivity, which distinguish the Fenix 8 Pro from earlier models. The improvements aim to deliver more reliable communication and smoother performance for outdoor and endurance users.
