Garmin said it has resolved a recent connectivity issue affecting its Connect app on Apple’s iOS, following reports from users that a range of smartwatches were failing to pair properly with iPhones.

The problem emerged after a recent Garmin Connect update and was widely reported on the company’s online forums and social media platforms, including Reddit. Users said affected devices were unable to connect to smartphones as expected, disrupting syncing and other app-dependent features.

According to Garmin, the issue affected only iOS users and not those on Android. Impacted models included several high-end and mainstream devices, such as the Fenix 8, Venu 4 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches.

Garmin confirmed on its website and to tech publication Gadgets and Wearables that the issue had been addressed with the release of Garmin Connect iOS version 5.21.1. The company said it “has resolved this connectivity issue” with the latest update, which is now available through the Apple App Store in multiple countries.

However, Garmin noted that installing the update may not immediately fix the problem for all users. Some customers may need to manually remove and reconnect their smartwatch to their iPhone, a process outlined in a step-by-step guide on Garmin’s support page. The company said the 5.21.1 release does not include additional bug fixes or feature changes beyond the connectivity repair.
